MANUAL OF DAILY PRAYERS.

Devotions for the Morning.

As soon as you are awake, lift up your heart to GOD, and say,

"I laid me down and slept, I awoke, for the LORD hath preserved me."

[ocr errors]

'Glory be to the FATHER, and to the SON, and to the HOLY GHOST."

Rise quickly that you may have time for your prayers.

Whilst you are washing, pray thus,

"LORD, I am Thy child by Holy Baptism; wash me from my sins, and keep me Thine for ever."

Whilst you are dressing, say,

Clothe me, O LORD, in Thy righteousness, and with Thy humility!

After you are dressed, kneel and say O HOLY SPIRIT, help me to pray! Almighty and most merciful FATHER, I heartily thank Thee for preserving me through the night past, and for all Thy goodness and loving kindness to me.

O BLESSED JESU, I grieve from my heart that I sin so often against Thee.

I offer to Thee my whole self-body, soul, and spirit; everything I shall this day think, say, or do. Preserve me, I pray Thee, from every danger; keep my mind from all evil thoughts, my soul from all sinful desires, and my body from all wrong actions, that I may live in Thee,
