An Amendment proposed, in page 8, line 6, to leave out the words "at the time," in order to insert the words "within seven days"-(Mr. Dennison), instead thereof. -Question put, "That the words' at the time' stand part of the Clause."-The Committee divided:

Another Amendment made, in page 8, line 14, by leaving

out all the words from the beginning to the word "showing" in line 17, and by inserting the words :

"(3) No contract for the repayment of money lent by a moneylender after the commencement of this Act, whereby the interest charged on the loan is not expressed in terms of a rate, shall be enforceable unless, before the note or memorandum of the contract was signed as aforesaid, the moneylender had delivered to the borrower a statement in writing signed by the moneylender "-(Captain King),-instead thereof.
