THE SELECT COMMITTEE to whom the Mercantile Marine Memorial Bill was referred :

Have examined the allegations of the Bill, and found the same to be true, and have taken evidence thereon, which they have agreed to Report to the House, and have gone through the Bill, and made an Amendment thereunto.

The Committee deliberated and appointed Tuesday next for the first meeting of the Committee to proceed with the Bill.

[Adjourned till Tuesday next at a quarter past Four o'clock.

Mr. Bidder was heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.

Major-General Sir Fabian Ware, K.C.V.O., K.B.E., C.B., C.M.G., Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Imperial War Graves Commission, was examined.

Preamble read a second time.

Question, That the Preamble is proved, put and agreed to.

Clauses 1 to 3 agreed to.

Mr. Bidder brought up a New Clause (For protection of Metropolitan and Metropolitan District Railway Companies).

Clause read the first and second time and added to the Bill.
