The scales of pay of Temporary Clerks vary with the length of the working week, the place of employment, and the grading of the work; in addition the scales, which include a cost of living element, are subject to revision on the 1st March and 1st September of each year on the basis of the average increased cost of living figure for the six months preceding the date of revision. For the purpose of this periodical revision, the scales which were in force from 29 March, 1924, to 31 August, 1924, have been related to an increased cost of living figure of 80 the average figure for the six months prior to March, 1924); and on the occasion of each half-yearly revision, these scale, are subject to a reduction, or increase as the case may be of 5/180ths for every 5 full points by which the average increased cost of living figure for the six months preceding the date of revision falls below, or rises above, 80.
