A history of the Jewish community of Helmstedt (Lower Saxony) during the Holocaust. Describes various forms of discrimination against the Jews, their social and professional exclusion, the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, Aryanization of Jewish enterprises, arrests and deportations. Seven families fled from Helmstedt, but some of them were later deported from other German towns. Pp. 119-126 contain a list of 41 persons who resided in Helmstedt between 1933-45, including details of their fate.
