All percentages calculated on First Fair Rents. In the case of Bute all these rents except two were increased as a result of Court of Session judgment Some of these holdings had Second, Third, and Fourth Fair Rents fixed.

Compensation for damage or injury done in consequence of the constitution of Small Holdings by the Board of Agriculture for Scotland.

During the year First Fair Rents were fixed for 57 Landholders' holdings extending to 429 acres arable, 348 acres outrun, 13,509 acres township common pasture, and 27,949 acres general common pasture. The old Rents of these holdings (omitting shillings and pence) amounted to £406, and the Fair Rents to £384, the rate of reduction being fully 5 per cent. No arrears were dealt with. The average Fair Rent of these holdings is £6. 14s. 9d.

On the expiry of septennial periods, 31 Landholders' holdings. were re-valued. These extended to 625 acres arable, 368 acres outrun, 19,787 acres township common pasture, and 15,702 acres general common pasture. The Old Rents of these holdings. amounted to £448. First Fair Rents, fixed in various years, amounted to £385. The Fair Rents fixed in 1926 amounted to £406, an average of £13. 1s. 11d., and an increase of fully 5 per cent. on the First Fair Rents.

First Equitable Rents were fixed for 6 Statutory Small Tenants' holdings, the total area being 126 acres arable and 338 acres outrun. The Old Rents of these holdings amounted to £178 and First Equitable Rents to £169, a decrease of fully 5 per cent. The average Equitable Rent is £28. 3s. 4d.

A Revised Equitable Rent was fixed for one Statutory Small Tenant's holding extending to 24 acres arable, in which no change was made on the First Equitable Rent of £25.

The number of successful applications for Compensation for permanent improvements at outgo was 61, in 17 of which the value of the improvements in respect of which compensation was claimed was not stated. Otherwise the amount specifically claimed was £13,514. 17s. 10d., and the amount awarded in all cases £7,140. 19s. 2d. 11 applications were dismissed or withdrawn.

One claimant lodged an application for Compensation in respect of damage or injury done in consequence of the constitution of small holdings by the Board of Agriculture for Scotland. The amount claimed was £6,589. 17s. 10d. and the amount awarded £846. 10s.

The number of applications for assignment of landholders' holdings granted in 1914 was 61; in 1915, 44; in 1916, 66; in 1917, 73; in 1918, 56; in 1919, 52; in 1920, 74; in 1921, 72 ; in 1922, 76; in 1923, 97; in 1924, 70; in 1925, 91, and in 1926, 113 (8 being dismissed or withdrawn).

The number of Appeals and Motions for Re-hearing, etc., outstanding at the close of the year 1925 was 28, and the number received during 1926 was 51. Of these, 48 were disposed of, leaving 31 to be dealt with as at 31st December 1926.

The number of Applications to determine the succession to Landholders' holdings in respect of the intestacy of, or bequest by, deceased Landholders disposed of during the year was 52. Of these, 18 were withdrawn or dismissed.

The number of Applications for resumption of Landholders' and Statutory Small Tenants', or parts thereof, disposed of during the year was 44. Of these, 39 were granted and 5 dismissed or withdrawn.

The number of new holdings in respect of which Landholders were registered by agreement in 1926 was 119. These extended to 2,723 acres 26 poles arable, 2,535 acres 9 poles outrun, 10,546 acres township common pasture, and 14,402 acres general common pasture.

The number of existing holdings in respect of which Landholders were registered by agreement in 1926 was 104. These extended to 2,446 acres 10 poles arable, 1,919 acres 1 rood 36 poles outrun, 44,839 acres township common pasture, and 85,024 acres general common pasture.

Authority was interponed to agreements in respect of 54 enlargements of existing small holdings. These enlargements extended to 127 acres 3 roods 27 poles arable, 80 acres 2 roods 31 poles outrun, and 31,165 acres common pasture.
