THE RURAL DEAN.

ROFESSEDLY good managing housewives often hunt from shop to shop to see where they can buy most advantageously, and in boastful pride tell to their neighbours of their wonderful bargains, and induce them to go with them. Gentlemen who have much spare time often do the same thing, but do not always succeed likewise.

A Clergyman wrote to a Rural Dean, asking him to deal at the Army and Navy Stores, and received the following reply :

You ask me to join the Army and Navy Stores; but what have I to do with the army and navy, except to pray for them and pay them? I am not partial to stock relations, and have more confidence in a cow than a Khedive, and rather rest content with my 24 in a dirty piece of land than 8 or nothing in the Artificial Rain Company.' If people would take the advice of a man who has seen a little of life, I would say,Pay ready money, deal at home, buy nothing till you can pay for it, help your shopkeeper to sleep comfortably, and you will sleep better yourself.'

CRAGG & SEWARD, of Sussex House, offer to the inhabitants of Crouch End, Hornsey, and Highgate, every opportunity of taking this Clergyman's advice, and "Deal at Home." They sell goods at the very lowest profit, deliver purchases carriage free, give a discount for payment on delivery, and keep a large and well-selected stock. Their system must be supported by a great number of purchasers to make it successful, and all who deal at the Stores are asked to make a trial of THEIR establishment. Many have done so, and found it to their advantage, and already their shop has acquired the name of the CROUCH END CO-OP.

Holloway's Ointment and Pills.-Debilitated Constitutions-When climate, age, or hardships, have undermined the health, skin diseases are prone to arise and augment the existing weakness. Holloway's medicaments daily prove most serviceable, even under the most untoward circumstances. This well-known and highly-esteemed unguent possesses the finest balsamic virtues, which soothe and heal without intlaming or irritating the most tender skin or most sensitive sore. Holloway's Ointment and Pills are infallible for curing bad legs, varicose veins, swelled ankles, erysipelas, scaly skin, and every variety of skin disease. Over all these disorders Holloway's remedies exert a quick and favourable action, and, where cure is possible, gradually but certainly arrive at that consummation. They are invaluable in the cure of scrofula and scurvy.
