If thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother hath aught against thee, leave there thy gift upon the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

The kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; following peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

And be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Oh! come, let us worship and bow down, and kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

1*

O Lord! correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Repent ye; for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

I will arise, and go to my father; and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us; but, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Then the Service shall be conducted by the Minister and the Choir, as follows:

Minister. O Lord! open thou our lips;

Choir. And our mouth shall show forth thy praise.

Then shall be used responsively, by the Minister and Choir, the Psalm for the day of the month, as set down in this book; the Minister giving the number of the Psalm, and reading the 1st, 3d, 5th, &c., verses; and the Choir chanting the 2d, 4th, 6th, &c.

And, after this reading of the Psalm for the day, the Service shall

PSALM I.

man that walketh not in the counsel of

the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season: his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

ASCRIPTION.

·Blessing and honor and glory and power be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, for ever and ever. Amen.*

To be used at the close of each Psalm.

PSALM XCII.

T is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

2. To show forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3. Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

6. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

7. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish, it is that they shall be destroyed for ever;

8. But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

9. For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD,-for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 10. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

11. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

12. The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15. To show that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
