8. They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

9. Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it; thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water; thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.

10. Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly; thou settlest the furrows thereof; thou makest it soft with showers; thou blessest the springing thereof.

11. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

12. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness; and the little hills rejoice on every side.

13. The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn: they shout for joy; they also sing.

Afternoon.

PSALM CXXXVIII.

I WILL praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods

will I sing praise unto thee.

2. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth; for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3. In the day when I cried, thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

4. All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

5. Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD; for great is the glory of the LORD.

6. Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly; but the proud he knoweth afar off.

7. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

8. The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

TWENTY-FOURTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

Morning.

PSALM LXVI. 1—14, 16—20.

AKE a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands.

MAKE

2. Sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.

3. Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

4. All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.

5. Come, and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

6. He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

7. He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

8. O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard;

9. Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

10. For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us as silver is tried.

11. Thou broughtest us into the net: thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

12. Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads: we went through fire and through water; but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

13. I will go into thy house with burnt-offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

14. Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

15. Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

16. I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.

17. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

18. But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

19. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Afternoon.

PSALM CXXXIX. 1-12, 17, 18, 23, 24.

LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising;

thou understandest my thought afar off.

3. Thou compassest my path and my lying-down, and art acquainted with all my ways;

4. For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine

hand upon me.

6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8. If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

14. If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. 15. Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts;

16. And see if there be me in the way everlasting.

TWENTY-FIFTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

GOD

Morning.

PSALM LXVII.

OD be merciful unto us, and bless us, and cause his face to shine upon us;

2. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

3. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

4. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.

5. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

6. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

7. God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall

fear him.

HEA

Afternoon.

PSALM CXLIII.

EAR my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. 2. And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

3. For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitmy life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

4. Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
