5. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not:

6. They have ears, but they hear not; noses have they, but they smell not:

7. They have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not; neither speak they through their throat. 8. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

9. O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

10. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

11. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

12. The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

13. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

14. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

15. Ye are blessed of the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

16. The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's; but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

17. The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

18. But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

FOURTEENTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

Morning.

PSALM XXXIII.

REJOICE in the LORD, O ye righteous; for praise is

comely for the upright.

2. Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

3. Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

4. For the word of the LORD is right, and all his works are done in truth.

5. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

6. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

7. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap : he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10. The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever; the thoughts of his heart, to all generations.

12. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. 13. The LORD looketh from heaven: he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14. From the place of his habitation, he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

16. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17. An horse is a vain thing for safety; neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19. To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

21. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Afternoon.

PSALM CXVI.

I LOVE the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and

my supplications.

2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4. Then called I upon the name of the LORD: O LORD,

I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is

merciful.

6. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

7. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. 10. I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11. I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12. What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

13. I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

14. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

15. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

16. O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

18. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

19. In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

7. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

:

8. O taste and see that the LORD is good blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9. O fear the LORD, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him.

10. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

11. Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13. Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

16. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17. The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

20. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
