I

FIFTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

Morning.

PSALM XVIII. 1-19, 25, 26, 31, 46.

WILL love thee, O LORD, my strength. 2. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised : so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

5. The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me.

6. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

7. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. 8. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

9. He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.

10. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly; yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

11. He made darkness his secret place: his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12. At the brightness that was before him, his thick clouds passed; hail-stones, and coals of fire.

13. The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail-stones, and coals of fire.

14. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

15. Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16. He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

17. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me; for they were too strong for me.

18. They prevented me in the day of my calamity; but the LORD was my stay.

19. He brought me forth also into a large place; he dedelivered me, because he delighted in me.

25. With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt show thyself upright;

26. With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself froward.

31. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

46. The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

THE

Afternoon.

PSALM XCVII.

HE LORD reigneth: let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

2. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteous

ness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

3. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

4. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

5. The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6. The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

7. Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

8. Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.

9. For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth; thou art exalted far above all gods.

10. Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

11. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12. Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

SIXTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

Morning.

PSALM XIX.

THE heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament

showeth his handiwork.

2. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.

3. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.

4. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

5. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

6. His going-forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7. The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

8. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

10. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11. Moreover by them is thy servant warned; and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

14. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer.

Afternoon.

PSALM XCVIII.

SING unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm,

hath gotten him the victory.

2. The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the heathen.

3. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the

house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth; make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6. With trumpets, and sound of cornet, make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

7. Let the sea roar,

they that dwell therein.

and the fulness thereof; the world, and

8. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills be joyful together before the LORD;

9. For he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

THE

SEVENTH DAY OF THE MONTH.

Morning.

PSALM XX.

HE LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

2. Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;

3. Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burntsacrifice;

4. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.

5. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
