The Committee on Synodical Minutes reported, and their report was accepted, adopted, and is as follows: The Committee on Synodical Minutes report— That they have examined the Minutes of the respective Synods, and find the following particulars which claim the attention of the General Synod. On the Minutes of the General Synod. They find, 1. The following question-" Shall Roman Priests be admitted into the Ministry without ordination; and shall converted Papists be admitted into the Church without baptism." A Committee was appointed who reported, and Synod adopted the following resolution : Resolved, That the further consideration of the subject be postponed to the next General Synod. 2. That the whole subject of Sabbath Schools be referred to a special Committee. The Committee reported, and it was Resolved, That the further consideration of the subject be postponed to the next General Synod. On the Minutes of the Particular Synod of New-York. That the Synod recommend the American Colonization Society to all the Churches under their jurisdiction, as an institution eminently calculated to promote the cause of humanity and to spread the gospel through Africa, and that, according to the request of the Board of Managers, it be recommended to their churches to take up collections on the 4th of July, or any Sabbath near that day, for the benefit of that institution. Your Committee respectfully suggest, that this recommendation be extended to all the Churches under the care of General Synod. |
