lHymns of the Living Church

1

Forth in Thy Name, O Lord, I Go

[merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small][ocr errors]

Thee, on - ly Thee, re-solved to know, In all I think, or speak, or do. A-men.

2

The task Thy wisdom hath assigned

O let me cheerfully fulfil;
In all my works Thy presence find,
And prove Thy good and perfect will.

3
Thee may I set at my right hand,

Whose eyes mine inmost substance see,
And labor on at Thy command,

And offer all my works to Thce.

4
Give me to bear Thy easy yoke,

And every moment watch and pray;
And still to things eternal look,
And hasten to Thy glorious day.

5
Fain would I still for Thee employ

Whate'er Thy bounteous grace hath given,
And run my course with even joy,
And closely walk with Thee to heaven. Amen.

CHARLES WESLEY

[blocks in formation]

Through sleep and dark-ness safe-ly brought, Restored to life, and power, and thought. A-men.

For Thy mer- cies, Lord, are sure; Thy com -pas-sion doth en- dure. A-men.

As the morning light returns,
As the sun with splendor burns,
Teach us still to turn to Thee,
Ever blessed Trinity,
With our hands our hearts to raise,
In unfailing prayer and praise. Amen.

2

Redeem thy misspent time that's past,
And live this day as if thy last;
Improve thy talent with due care;
For the great Day thyself prepare.

3
Wake, and lift up thyself, my heart,
And with the angels bear thy part,
Who all night long, unwearied, sing
High praise to the eternal King.

4
All praise to Thee, Who safe hast kept
And hast refreshed me while I slept;
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless light partake.

5 Lord, I my vows to Thee renew; Scatter my sins as morning dew; Guard my first springs of thought and will, And with Thyself my spirit fill.

6 Direct, control, suggest, this day, All I design, or do, or say; That all my powers, with all their might, In Thy sole glory may unite.

7 Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

5
Praise God, our Maker and our Friend,
Praise Him through time till time shall end,
Till psalm and song His name adore
Through heaven's great day of evermore. Amen.
