Round yon Virgin Mother and Child. Holy In-fant so ten-der and mild,

And our eyes at last shall see Him,

Through His own redeeming love, For that Child so dear and gentle

Is our Lord in heaven above;
And He leads His children on
To the place where He is gone.

Not in that poor lowly stable,
With the oxen standing by,
We shall see Him, but in heaven,

Set at God's right hand on high, When, like stars, His children crowned, All in white, shall wait around. Amen. CECIL FRANCES ALEXANDER

on earth below,

2

Lo, within a manger lies

He who built the starry skies,

He who, throned in height sublime, Sits amid the Cherubim!

3

Say, ye holy shepherds, say,
What your joyful news to-day;
Wherefore have ye left your sheep
On the lowly mountain steep?

4

"As we watched at dead of night, Lo, we saw a wondrous light; Angels singing, 'Peace on earth,' Told us of the Saviour's birth."

5

Sacred Infant, all divine,

What a tender love was Thine, Thus to come from highest bliss Down to such a world as this!

6

Teach, O teach us, holy Child,
By Thy face so meek and mild,
Teach us to resemble Thee
In Thy sweet humility!

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!
Hail, Redemption's happy dawn!
Sing through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Come, ye Lofty, Come, ye Lowly

Come, ye Lofty 87878787

GEORGE JOB ELVEY

1. Come, ye lofty, come, ye lowly, Let your songs of glad-ness ring;

[subsumed][merged small][merged small][merged small][graphic][subsumed][subsumed][merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small]

Hark! the heaven of heavens is ringing,
Christ the Lord to man is born!
Are not all our hearts too singing-
Welcome, welcome, Christmas morn?
Still the Child, all power possessing,

Smiles as through the ages past;
And the song of Christmas blessing
Sweetly sinks to rest at last. Amen.
