Other Amendments made, in page 2, line 40, after the word "case," by inserting the words "after an enquiry under sub-section (1) of this section" - (Mr. Webb); in page 2, line 42, after the word "of," by inserting the word "imported" -(Mr. Riley); and in page 2, line 42, after the word "any," by inserting the words " (being goods to which the committee consider that it is practically possible to apply effectively and without injury to the goods an indication of origin or a distinguishing mark under subsection (5) of this section) "(Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister).

Another Amendment proposed, in page 2, line 42, after the last inserted Amendment, to insert the words "and being in each case articles of the class or description specified in the reference to the committee "-(Mr. Webb). -Question proposed, "That those words be there inserted."

Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.

Other Amendments made, in page 3, line 1, by leaving out all the words from the beginning to the word " recommend" in line 2, and by inserting the words "shall if it reports that such goods should bear an indication of origin or be distinguished as provided in this section (Mr. Barnes), -instead thereof; and in page 3, line 6, at the end, by inserting the words :

"(7) Before any proceedings shall be taken on any report made by a committee in pursuance of this section, such report shall be published and a copy of such report shall be laid before each House of Parliament, and notice of the making of such report shall be published in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes, and in such other manner as the Department may deem suitable "-(Mr. Riley).

Another Amendment proposed, in page 3, after the last inserted Amendment, to insert the words :

"Any recommendation contained in a report made by a committee or otherwise made by them shall be subject to a right of appeal as hereinafter provided"(Mr. Barnes).

Another Amendment proposed, in page 3, after the last inserted Amendment, to insert the words :

"(8) A committee may and shall if so required by any persons representing interests substantially affected report as to what provision should be made under which imported goods of a perishable nature not marked or distinguished in accordance with an order in Council may be landed, unshipped, or transhipped, including provisions (if the committee think fit) for the consignee entering into bond with one sufficient surety in such sum as the committee may recommend for the marking or distinguishing of such goods in accordance with the requirements of such order, so far as practicable, before the sale or exposure for sale thereof in the United Kingdom"-(Mr. Gibbins).

Question, "That those words be there inserted,"-put, and negatived.
