Tornado: A History

Cover
History Press Limited, 2008 - 120 Seiten

This book concentrates on Tornado Reconnaissance, looking at the two dedicated squadrons--II (AC) and XII--the systems they employed, and their worth to the overall structure, interspersed with personal tales of front line operations. This book explains the concept of the internal recon system, TIRRS, its development and use as well as its replacement systems JRP and Raptor, including their use over Iraq. There is a station history of Marham where two Tornado squadrons and one Canberra squadron are based, and detailed squadron histories and their roles in both recon and the RAF in general are provided. It also looks at Time Sensitive Targets (TST), Scud hunting in Iraq in the Gulf War, and includes an interview with F/L Peter Durke on how TIRRS developed.
