This manual was designed for individuals who are looking for a successful weightlifting program to prepare them for basketball season. It was designed to reduce the risk of injuries and improve basketball strength and power.

Curtis Bickham has been the strength and conditioning coach for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Womenâs Basketball team since 2008. Under Curtisâ direction, the team won a school record of 23 games during the 2009-2010 season and captured the North Division Great Lakes Valley Conference title. In the process, the team reached the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship game and earned a birth to the Division II post-season tournament. The teamâs 41-18 record since Curtis has been the strength and conditioning coach has been a dramatic improvement from the 32-24 record the team earned the two years prior to his tenure.In addition to basketball, Curtis has also trained and/or coached professional mixed martial artists, wrestlers, football players and power lifters. Curtis is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NationalStrength and Conditioning Association. He also has earned the Performance Coach certification through USA Weightlifting. Curtis completed an Interdisciplinary Studies bachelorâs degree that focused on Sport Sociology and Exercise Science at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and is pursuing a masterâs degree in Applied Exercise and Health Science at Kennesaw State University. He also teaches two courses: Introduction to Sport and Fitness Management and Principles of Strength and Conditioning.
