I No. IX. iatorence rtnetnam, gentleman. nqillSltlOn taken at Blandford Forum, 29th August, 1 Charles I 1625 J, before Anthony Dennett, esq., escheator, after the death of Lawrence Swetnam, gent., by the oath of the same jurors as No. 1, who say that Lawrence Swetnam was seised of one messuage and one curtilage in Sherborne lying in the market place of Sherborne; one stable, barn and garden in Sherborne in a certain street there called Longestreete; all that site, messuage and farm called the King's farm within the manor of Trent in county Somerset, and all houses, buildings, gardens, etc., in Trent to the same belonging, formerly appertaining to the Priory of Studley in county Warwick, now dissolved; all those lands, meadows, feedings and pastures, rents, reversions, services and hereditaments in Trent in the several tenures of Joan Frances alias Jey, widow, Robert Talbott and Henry Clifford and Alice, his wife, as in right of the said Alice. Lawrence Swetnam was likewise seised of the reversion expectant upon the death of John Claver alias Baylie and Thomas Swetnam, his son, of one messuage, one garden, one orchard, 20 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, 30 acres of pasture and common of pasture for all beasts in Lidlindge alias Lidlinche. The messuage and curtilage in Sherborne are held of lord Mervyn Audley, Earl of Castlehaven, as of his manor of Stalbridge, in free socage by fealty only, and are worth per annum, clear, 6J. 8d. The stable, barn and garden in Sherborne are held of John Earl of Bristoll, as of his manor of Sherborne by fealty only, and are worth per annum, clear, 3J. 4/. The capital messuage and other the premises in Trent are held of the King in chief by the service of the 100th part of a knight's fee, and are worth per annum, clear, ...
