A Student's Reference Grammar of Modern Formal IndonesianGeorgetown University Press, 1967 - 278 Seiten The Indonesian described in this grammar is the formal language used in published texts rather than the colloquial language. All of the texts used were published between 1945 and 1966 and they include political speeches, legal documents, and textbooks. Since this book was designed primarily for general students of the Indonesian language and only secondarily for linguists, the use of technical linguistic vocabulary has been restricted to terms defined in general dictionaries. The phonemic transcription reflects the orthography of the language with variant spellings correlated by reference to differences in pronunciation. Major sections include phonology, morphology, form classes, and syntax. This book is also available for $3.95 from the publications department, school of languages and linguistics, Georgetown university, Washington, D.C. 20007. (jd). |
